London Calling 2018 | World Class Live Streaming Event | Camera Operating and Technical Setups

Recently this summer I was brought onto an incredible shoot for the London Calling Neoprene conference. They hold the conference every year in easily one of the best venues the city has to offer- Old Billingsgate.

I was glad to be apart of the shoot, brought onto the project by Richard Hadley, owner of Ballistic Ltd.

The shoot contained enough cameras to film 6 feature films simultaneously for the massive amounts of live coverage and media necessary for the 4 breakout rooms and large main room talks. For the main room we had a live stream from 5 camera operators on the ground (myself included) -one high end automated video head operator and two cameras in the sky.

Some of the kit for this shoot was truly remarkable. 13x Canon C300 cine cameras, enough lenses to make a glass building jealous and one of the best teams I’ve worked with!

The shoot involved the better part of a week to label all the gear, organize it from its shipment in from NYC, fit the kit to the location, do test runs and then finally be on the ground ready for the 2 day conference.

Attached below are some behind the scenes shots including a few from the website (with link) to where the final videos are now. Also, I was happy to help out with some B roll including on a Ronin for some of the highlight video clips seen on the main page (photo attached below featuring the video paused at one of my wrap around time warp shots). Also scroll for a short video clip of myself and colleague Jamie setting up one of the pedestal cameras- a kit single setup worth more than a nice Mercedes, and with every penny.

I want to thank London Calling and Richard at Ballistic for having me on board this extremely technical and fantastic conference. This is truly a world class event and the team we had was top notch. A dream production without question, I greatly look forward to the next.

Feel free to check out the link HERE to view some of the videos (be warned they are highly technical- but the highlight video could be a good start ;)

Cheers,

-W
